Tons of books have hit the shelves for business professionals over the past few years. How many of them have you taken the time to give a read? I know it can be confusing with all of the new books constantly hitting the shelves (and mobile devices). What’s worth your time? How do you know what’s going to help you the most? Today, I want to go over my reading list for the most essential books for people in business. I read this stuff so you don’t have to wonder if it’s worth your time. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have time for boring books! I hope you enjoy these reads as much as I did:
Different (Youngem Moon) – A professor from one of the most popular courses at Harvard lays it all on the line. What makes businesses truly different (and thus, resilient)? In easy-to-read language that draws you in, this is a must-read for any business owner or consultant working with those who need to be different for a reason, not just for giggles.
Drive (Daniel Pink) – Dig inside what really motivates us with this invaluable read from Daniel Pink. If you’ve ever been curious from an employer standpoint on what your employees want, you’ll go gaga over this one!
Switch (Heath Brothers) – Take a trip through the emotional and rational mind with the latest publication from the Heath Brothers. Why is it so hard for us to make lasting changes in our lives and business?
Good to Great (Jim Collins) – While not published in the last year, this book is a regular read of mine (at least once a year). If you’ve ever wondered what takes companies from market average to market leaders, you’ll be hard-pressed to put this one down.
Your action task for today? Pop over to Amazon and have a look at one or all four of these books and see which one is going to be next up on your bedside table! Business professionals don’t have time to waste and these four tomes are sure to spark some ideas in your busy brain!
